Music: Part One

I was raised pretty strictly on '70s & '80s R&B. Luckily, though, I started watching MTv in 1981 at the age of five. Through this portal, I acquired a taste for a much broader spectrum of music.
My father also started buying records for me (of my choosing) when I was three. Despite being force-fed nothing but whiny black men and forlorn black women (my reduction of R&B) at home I broke from the mold early, buying 45s by Queen and Foreigner while still in kindergarten.
At first, my parents protested my like of 'white' music ... my mother especially. But by about the time I was 10, they just gave up and let me do what I wanted
