March 2013 begins with a flurry of new songs for country fans to enjoy. Superstars like Brad Paisley and Tim McGraw released new tracks to end the winter, and others like the Band Perry and Sheryl Crow introduced new music just in time for spring. All of these artists are slotted within the Top 40 Country Songs list for March 2013, but none are No. 1. That honor goes to a song that debuted at No. 3 last month.

Singles from Kacey Musgraves and Lee Brice make big leaps in the March Top 40. McGraw finds himself with two songs inside the Top 10, while George Strait picks up valuable spots to reach his 60th No. 1 hit.

The list of the Top 40 Country Songs for March 2013 is compiled from Billboard chart data and sales figures, in addition to staff opinion and reader feedback.

Death, Music, and Growing Old

My top ten favorite musician's in order are: Prince, Queen, Eric B and Rakim, NIN, Bill Withers, Johnny Cash, Wu-tang, James Brown, Public Enemy and Billy Holiday. I mention this not because of their talent or my diverse palette but because I wanted to mention that I haven't bought new music since the mid-nineties. Why you ask? I'm not sure. I've been disappointed by new music in general. The best albums produced recently have been by people who have been around for at least a decade. Maybe it's because I'm getting old. I bring this up because of NAS' new album HIP HOP IS DEAD (a title meant to spark conversation and hopefully awareness in new artists)
